On 21st of November, World Television Day is celebrated. Its main purpose is to be a reminder of the power of visual media and how it shapes public opinion and influences world politics. It also marks effort made by the governments, organizations and media to deliver unbiased information.
World Television
Day was set up by United Nations in 1996. 21st of November was
chosen in order to commemorate the first World Television Forum, which was held
on 21st and 22nd of November.
The simplest
way to celebrate this day is rewatching and reliving the greatest moments in
history of television, like the first ever broadcasted presidential debate in
1960, thanks to which Kennedy won the election, even though he was rather
unknown before it.
People associated with television and media industry celebrate this holiday by organizing various events both in real world in online, to, for example, teach people about history of television.
Right, better late than never. Let's celebrate television before people stop watching it completely and switch to social media for news and commentary.
