Jacob
Chansley, who took part in the deadly 6 January attack on Capitol by Donald
Trump’s followers, was sentenced to 41 moths in prison, after pleading guilty
to charges in September. He is best known for wearing a horned helmet and a fur
hat during the riot, even receiving being nicknamed “QAnon shaman”.
I think it’s
good that people who were the icons during the Capitol riot and are at least
partially responsible for the overall violence and deaths of a few police
officers are finally punished. Even though, I think that being sent to prison
for almost 3.5 years for something like this is a bit extreme, especially
considering that you can be sentenced less time for crimes like manslaughter or
rape. The fact that the man is diagnosed with several serious mental illnesses should
also be considered, and I am wondering if it is really fair that a person who
may not have had a full understanding of what they were doing is given one of
the harshest sentences possible for the crime.

He goes to prison while the politicians who encouraged and egged on the rioters are enjoying their freedom and are immune from prosecution.
