This week's news - November 29th
Israel’s top court has ruled that a six-year-old boy who survived a cable car crash in northern Italy must be returned to his relatives in Italy. He was abducted from his paternal aunt by his maternal grandfather on 11 September, after the boy’s brother and parents lost their lives in the crash. The court ruled that he must not be removed from his “habitual residence”.
In my
opinion, it is good that after two months of living in an unfamiliar country
with people he didn’t know very well the boy is finally returned to his home country
and to his close relatives, who were given custody of the boy by the court
after his parents died in May. I understand the desire of his Israeli relatives
to have the boy with them, as they most likely think that he could suffer
psychologically from being so close to the place his parents died in, but at the
same time I think that being separated from his legal guardians and his home
country could also have a significant effect on the boys psyche.
Where's the link? I don't know the story and would love to read about it in detail.
